Who We Are

Elizabeth and Bob Lawson have been dancing together for over 35 years, having originally met at the Newcastle University Country Dance Society. Together with Sarah Lowes and Beverley Palin, they form the core of the collective which has also included various friends and family members over the years.

Elizabeth Lawson

Dance Instructor

Elizabeth comes from a family of traditional musicians and dancers, and recalls being taught how to step by her mother in the kitchen at home when she was six. She went to her first ceillidh age 14 and never looked back. Her firm belief is that everyone, regardless of talent or ability, should have the opportunity to dance if they so wish.

Bob Lawson

Concertina and Melodeon

Bob has been playing concertina for over 38 years. He can often be found at events playing random Morris tunes to entertain himself between sets.

Sarah Lowes

Recorders, Pipe & Tabor, Piano Accordion, Hammered Dulcimer.

Sarah is a musical magpie and will try anything given the chance. Taught classical piano from an early age, this eventually lead to traditional music with slightly more portable instruments. She has a particular liking for medieval music and dance.

Beverley Palin

Northumbrian Pipes, Piano Accordion, Guitar, Hurdy Gurdy

Bev is a multi-instrumentalist Church Organist and Northumbrian Piper for hire. She will happily wax lyrical about archaeology and history, and regularly masquerades as a Trench Organ playing WW1 soldier, Captain James Crowley, over at Historia Northumbria.
